Commissions of inquiry

A commission of inquiry is a non judicial authority, which is set up by the Parliament in order to examine and uncover conditions of general importance in order to explain a specific chain of events. A commission of inquiry can furthermore also be set up in order to assess whether or not the State has a basis for holding someone accountable for the course of events that are subject to the investigation.
